Meet Our Lesson Horses
We have an additional mission to provide a kind, rewarding, loving home for rescued or retired show horses and ponies.
Championing the the use of rescued and retired show horses is a key to the success of our program. These horses are extremely skilled with "been-there-done-that" personalities that add to their naturally calm spirit. They are selected very carefully based upon their gentleness, level of training, and love for their work. Having older, experienced horses not only benefits our riders, but the horses as well. Providing therapy to our riders gives them a job that they look forward to each day and keeps them limber and in shape during their retired years. They give unconditional love to our riders, as well as receive an abundance of love from them. Our horses love their work!

Chica is a 30-something-year-old pony that is part Paso Fino. She came to SpiritHorse around 2018 with a sassy attitude, not expecting to live much longer. She surpassed everyone's expectations and quickly became one of the best, most loved lesson horses, teaching many children how to ride. She is missing most of her teeth and requires a special diet and the occasional extensive vet treatment to keep her healthy. Chica is happy and loved!
Pablo is both a therapy lesson horse and a general lesson horse. This versatile guy has a big heart and loves to take care of his riders.
